In many cities, unused land, public spaces, or even entire neighborhoods are being redeveloped for wealthy buyers or renters in order to increase attractiveness. This makes accessible living space not only more desirable, but unfortunately also rarer. To still meet the modern and alternative needs of urban culture, it is important to make the remaining space individually and freely usable.

Expensive and large-scale fixed installations leave little room for maneuver here. What is needed are mobile, cost-effective, and above all versatile solutions that serve the broadest possible cultural spectrum. No pompous palaces made of stone, but flexible and problem-oriented structures are in demand. Space for everyone! But even better: Usable space for everyone! This is where my project "Freiraumsonde" comes in.

Urbane Worlds

The Freiraumsonde is a bike trailer that can be rented by anyone and features a flexible modular system of three different modules. These modules include two frameworks that function similarly to a clothes rack, eight wall panels with notches for clamping, slotting, and turning, as well as a tower that houses cloth sacks with sails of different sizes. The modular elements are constructed of sturdy materials such as wood, fabric, and aluminum, making them easily transportable, affordable, versatile, combinable, and long-lasting.

With the Freiraumsonde, it is possible to create a temporary village within the city, according to your needs and imagination. The practical implementation has almost no limits: a sales area for a spontaneous flea market? Or a versatile piece of sports equipment? Even a band doesn't have to do without a stage at spontaneous concerts.
